palermo is the nearest city, but it's very polluted and dirty. Sferracavallo is much more quiet and it's very beautiful |

Il y a un cinéma à SFERRACAVALLO qui s'appelle Aurora cinéma du nom de sa propriétaire, et quand on apprend l'italien aller au cinéma en Italie c'est super. |

Next door to the hostel - inside the same gate-secured plot - is a small, family-run pizzeria (which I forget the name of). The pizza is beautiful, and the family who work there are very polite (particularly when trying to order in very broken Italian!). They were so friendly in fact, that when my friend accidentally ordered the hottest pizza on the menu, they made him a fresh, milder one free of charge. Thoroughly recommended! |

Turning right out of the hostel and down a slope to the bay is a very well-located bar - which is right by the water, and whilst more or less being made out of wooden shacks and plywood, is the perfect place to watch the sun go down with a beer. Watch the pennies though... €2.50 for a very small glass (plastic cup) of coke. |

bof : la boîte de nuit située au pied de l'auberge, super si on y va ; si on n'y va pas se munir de boules quiès, impératif pour espérer dormir. |

Montreale et le palais de Normands. |

04 Aug 2010 Christian, Germany:
The breakfast offered by the hostel is not exactly what is called a continental breakfast, but fair deal for the money they ask for! If you are very hungry, better move your bud to the city center to places like 'panificia' (bakery)! The same applies for lunch and dinner as well. |

if you are budget traveler do not visit the pub next by the hostel. Horrible expensive prices (at least in my opinion). But maybe it was a special price for foreign tourist?! Generally you can find better pubs in the center! |

HI Hostel Palermo - Baia del CoralloPalermo, the light-coloured houses, the illuminated trees like swarms of fireflies: this was Goethe's impression, trying to decribe a city that fills travellers eyes. When the look can wander from a wonderful gulf to the mountains, from superb palaces to rare monuments, when the spectacle of nature merges with architecture, travellers eyes stop judging, just observe. A city that just for its colours, climate and scents was loved indistinctly by Phoenicians, Normans, Romans and Arabs. Going out of the hostel, there are many possible itineraries, almost infinite. You can walk to "Piazza Vigliena" also named "The Sun Theatre", reaching in a short time to "Cassaro", as the Arabs called the most ancient fortification of the city. Few further steps and you can find the Norman Palace and the Cathedral, real architectural jewels. The Youth Hostel is situated in the splendid gulf of Sferracavallo where it directly faces the sea. The hostel is connected by public bus with the center of Palermo. Palermo's Youth Hostel offers the opportunity to experience sea and nature as well as history, culture and art of one of the most ancient cities of the Mediterreanean. It is also an excellent base for visiting Erice, Segesta, Cefalù , Agrigento and many more other places in Siciliy. | more...... |
