The arena is one of the best preserved in Europe. The audio tour is fantastic! Le Jardin de la Fontaine is beautiful! You can take up to half or even a full day wandering around and having a relaxing day in the sun. Le Maison Carre is an interesting place to see, it's very enlightening as to the history of Nimes |

26 May 2011 Emily, France:
For a cheap beer (San Miguel = 2.50) go to the little Spanish bar near the Place aux Herbes (near the Notre Dame church)and watch a bullfight on their HD big screen. After visiting the arena, this was the thing to do to really visualize the event in all its gruesome detail without being there at the time of the feria. |

26 May 2011 Emily, France:
Another word about the location: it is possible to walk from the hostel to the Tour de Magne and down through the gardens, toward the centre ville, then pick up a bus and come back to the hostel (before 9pm or you'll walk up the mountain!). We did this when we arrived and loved it. Great way to orient yourself to the town and decide what you want to see in more detail. |
