Don't miss... 09 Aug 2011 Ray, Canada:
Touring cyclists want to see the Pont Du Gard (about 60 km there and back) , and a ride from Nimes to Uzes and Ales is a classic, and the rides to other nearby towns are worthwhile. This , in addition to the obvious attractions in Nimes itself.

For touring cyclists, this is a place worth staying for a few days, you will just have to return (as many do) if you don't! the ride to Sete (about 120 km) via Sommieres is very nice, alternatively can be reached via the Camargues.

Pond du Gard - fantastic river swimming! Appeared to have loads of hiking trails as well in a beautiful location. The Thursday night festival in Nimes has great music - make friends if you are by yourself and go with them (I wouldnt want to walk back at night alone and a cab is about 10E)

Take the bus to Pont Du Gard. Bring swimming wear if it's hot outside. Swimming in the river below is popular and refreshing. When was the last time you swam under a 2000 year old Roman aqueduct?

Arena, Roman ruins, Tower, Pont du Gard, Jardin de Fontaine, walk all around town.
