Piazza Grande, very atmospheric place, helpful information center who will set you up with Wifi access. Great indoor produce market nearby. Generally a beautiful city to wander around. |

I used it as a base to travel to Bologna, but Milan is not far, nor is Ravenna, or Venice (only 2 and one half hours on the regional train). |

I did not eat out much in Modena, but the covered market looks like a good option for an impromptu picnic or light lunch of fresh meats, cheeses and vegetables. |

The interior of the church is quite interesting, vastly different in style and furnishings than other churches in Northern and Central Italy. It is obvious it was completed earlier, or renovated in a Gothic style. |
