Lucca is a wonderful little Old Town that will keep you busy for an afternoon at least. It is not far from Pisa which was pretty cool too but you can use Lucca Hostel for a base to shoot over to the beaches along the coastline for day excursions. |

HI Hostel Lucca - San FredianoVisitors to Lucca will never forget the spectacle of its city walls within which times has preserved images to delight the eyes. This city with its 22 centuries of history is indeed one of Italy's most evocative destinations. The new Youth Hostel is near the Church of S. Frediano, in the city centre. There are two monthly dates not to forget: an antiques market ( 3rd Sunday of each month ) and a local artisan's market ( 4th Sunday ). From Lucca you can make excursions to the Garfagnana Region, Barga, Castelvecchio, to the thermae of Bagni di Lucca, to the wonderful bridges ( the Bridge of the Chains and the Devil's Bridge ), to the Serchio Valley and why not ?
