Supermarkets around hostel, for example Sainsbury's which is only two streets away offer reasonably priced ready made sandwichtes for breakfast. Eating out is quite expensive in London. Cheapest warm food (but not best) is available at chains like subway or prêt a manger. Hostel has a kitchen for cooking yourself which is, of course, even cheaper.

Take a walk from Regents Park along Regents Channel to the Camden Lock during the day. It's really nice. To to Greenwich (DLR station Cutty Sark) and got to the Royal Observatory in Greenwich park. Nice view over London if the weather is good.
