Checkout Cafe Oz and the English (Irish?) pub in the northern quadrant of Lille, definitely happening during happy hour!

You can easily find good places to eat (not very expensives). We found a restaurante, near to gare Lille Flandres, called "hippo" that we liked. It was a little bit more expensive, but they have menus for 14/18 euros. Hope you speach french because it's difficult to find places where the staff speaks english...

There's a street full of bars/pubs where you can have a good time. You don't have to pay for enter so you can go walking till you find the one you like the most. It's about 10 minutes walking from the hostel (ask there for the name of the street). If you like good old 80's music look for "Velvet", and if you are looking for good and cheaper beer look for "Scotland" bar. Also realy good music.
Don't miss... 15 Feb 2011 Sofia, Portugal:
(Among others:) Palais de beaux arts. Patisserie La Mèert. It's really worth it. It's a magnificent building where you can sit, relax and eat their tradicional waffle and buy some of the best chocolats I have ever tried.
Don't miss... 28 Nov 2010 Siân, England & Wales:
Sunday Market in Place de la Concerte. Wonderful sights and smells. Full of French people, not tourists. Much more enjoyable than the Christmas Market, which was expensive and uninspiring.
Don't miss... 22 Nov 2010 Viktoria, Sweden:
The Beaux-Arts museum just a block away from the hostel is really worth a visit.
For good eats check out... 19 Oct 2010 Yalini, USA:
Restaurants near the train station; a luxury hotel is on the corner of the same street, and it has a 5-star type restaurant
19 Aug 2010 Russell, England & Wales:
Arras, Brussels, Gent, Brugges, or Antwerp
