Any of the the Shinto Shrines and Buddhist temples and their gardens amongst the hills and forests on the eastern edge of town. Personally thought the Golden Pavillion - Kinkaju - not worth the effort. The magnificent Kyoto Station is worth a look over. Modern architecture at its most dazzling.

Unlimited breakfast buffet (Japanese and Western style) up the road at the Westin Hotel. Children are half price. We did not need to buy any lunch after having breakfast there!
