Give Akan town a miss:lots of tourist/souvener shops. Akan National Park: must see Lakes Mashu & Kusharo Coast east of Abashiri definitely worth the short drive for nature lovers. Great soft local ice-cream at visitor centre of qiasi national park. |

If possible visit Shiretko National Park, Kushiro and drive along coast road for Akkeshi Bay. Great view from top of headland with breaking surf below and deer early evening. |
