2 mins walk from the hostel towards the lake is a Bar in a hotel, providing very good food with reasonable price. Right next to it is a local pub (with very dim light inside though). Therefore, if you wanna stay around the hostel without taking a taxi to Killarney town, they are your choice. |

Definitely climb the mountain to summit Carrauntoohil, on McGilliguddy Reek mountain, which is the highest point of Ireland. Taxi costs 25 Euro one way to a point called Cronin's Yard, where you can begin your hike. There is a cafe looked after by enthusiastic hikers. You can get refreshed before beginning your 6-hour hike (return time) to the summit. |

The Gap of Dunloe is just 10 minutes away with the car - and can be done by car (great fun on this extremely narrow, old road, although much better experience walking, if you've got the time and good weather) in the early morning hours (well before10 am), afterwards the horse-drawn carriages start to go through. |

Black Valley Hostel (franchise) - beautifully situated in the mountains south of Gap of Dunloe. The hi-hostel on the Dingle peninsula is also very nice and tidy and offers a stunning view over the coast. A place you wish to stay for a longer time - many people did when I was there. |

die Umgebung von Killarney, der Nordteil des Rings of Kerry ist auch im April und bei Regen schon sehenswert, unbedingt Halbinsel Dingle (auch bis zum Ende rumfahren), vorher schon war Bantry- House (von Cork kommend) sehr nett |

After a recommendation from the hostel staff, we went to Danny Mann's for the evening with our 2 children (aged 10 and 13 years). We had a lovely meal and had great time listening to the band. The recommendation was much appreciated and very suitable for our needs. |

The Skellig Ring: If you have a car, the Skellig Ring is a great extension of the Ring of Kerry and well worth the detour off the main road. |

| HI Hostel Killarney International, Co Kerry YHA Die Jugendherberge Ring of Kerry ist in einem eindarucksvollen Herrenhaus aus dem 17. Jahrhundert untergebracht, umgeben von 30 Hektar Wiesen und Wäldern und mit Blick auf die Seen von Killarney und die Macguillycuddy's Reeks. Wer gutes Essen mag, Nachtruhe und Wasch- und Trockenmöglichkeiten braucht und ein fantastisches Ambiente sucht, ist hier genau richtig. Die Jugendherberge wurde in zwei Phasen, Anfang 1999 und Anfang 2000, renoviert und verfügt seitdem auch über kleinere Zimmer, Familienzimmer, einen großen Küchenbereich für Selbstversorger und einen großzügigen Gastronomiebereich sowie sehr komfortable Gemeinschaftsräume. Von hier aus lässt sich ideal die malerische Landschaft des Ring of Kerry erkunden.
