Ask the staff at the front desk where is good to eat. They will direct you to a nice Okonomiyaki shop a short walk from the hostel. Hiroshima's okonomiyaki is famous in Japan so you should make sure to try as many different okonomiyaki restaurants as you can while you are there. |

Spend some time on Hondori, the outdoor shopping mall/arcade in downtown Hiroshima. Just of the west end is a street called Okonomiyaki-machi littered with tons of various okonomiyaki restaurants. |

Hiroshima Peace Park and each of the memorials there to the vicitims of the atomic bomb is an obvious must. Also check out the temple on Miyajima island. The ferry ride is free for Japan rail pass holders, and is a very famous landmark in Hiroshima. |

If you've come this far south (and you likely have a rail pass) you may as well ride the bullet train to it's end down to Fukuoka (1hr away). Fukuoka is on the north end of the Kyushu island and has lots to offer for sightseeing (museums, landmarks, ocean) and shopping (Tenjin district). |

| HI Hostel Hiroshima - Hiroshima YH Unsere Herberge liegt günstig, um zwei japanische Welterbestätten zu erkunden, den Friedensgedenkpark (mit der Atombombenkuppel) und Miyajima, eine 20 km südlich von Hiroshima gelegene Insel, einem der drei schönsten Aussichtspunkten Japans*.
Der Fudoin-Tempel in der Nähe der Herberge ist der einzige Nationalschatz in Hiroshima, der die Atombombe überstanden hat.
