Seattle Aquarium! Loved it! Not too huge, but has 2 octopuses, touch tank with starfish of all colors and sea cucumbers, anemonae. Not cheap, though. $19 for adults. Also - Seattle Art Museum, especially on the First Thursday of every month - it's free all day!

If you're going to Canada (Vancouver Island), I CAN recommend the Nanaimo Hostel. It is the best I have seen. There was still some street noise because of the proximity of bars/clubs.
