staying where you are sleeping. Open your window and let the ocean in, or sit on the bench near the working lighthouse and listen to the ocean. Play cards...relax...our son wanted to stay another night, and for him, that is somewhat amazing. |

Travel south to Half Moon Bay and walk downtown (cool shops), and grab some great fish tacos at the Flying Fish Grill. Further south in the town of Pescadero...Duarte's restaurant serves up a great Cream of Asparagus and Cream of Green Chile Soup. If you venture into SF, the Academy of Arts and Sciences in Golden Gate Park rivals the Smithsonian in D.C. Great planetarium, aquarium, rain-forest etc. Go on a weekday to avoid the crowds, and you can find half-off coupons on the web for 14.95. General admission is usually $30.00. |

Ketch Joanne and Princeton Seafood at the Pillar Point Harbor. Both serve excellent seafood and are different in their own way. To save some $$, you can print a 25-dollar gift certificate for both places from restaurant.com. If you join their e-mail list, you'll get notification when they discount their certificates. Very often, they cut their certificate price 80% (or $2-dollars) for a $25-dollar certificate. We went to Princeton on a Friday night and our bill came to $41 for three meals....after the certificate and tip, we ended up spending around $23-dollars for 3 full meals. |

El Gran Amigo Taqueria!!!! About 10 minutes walking from the hostel. Best carnitas [super] quesadilla I've ever had. And I've had quite a few carnitas quesadillas in my life. Also, they have beer, so it's a perfect relaxing dinner after a long day of traveling. |

| HI Hostel Montara - Point Montara LighthouseAn der rauen kalifornischen Küste, 40 km südlich von San Francisco, stehen der historische Leuchtturm von 1875 und die Gebäude der Jahrhundertwende, die von HI-AYH und dem kalifornischen Amt für Parks und Erholung in Zusammenarbeit mit der Küstenwache erhalten und restauriert wurden. Ihr könnt die Küste erkunden und die jährliche Wanderung der Grauwale beobachten (November bis April).
