There's only one grocery store and one restaurant in Maynooth. For more choice you have to drive to Whitney or Bancroft. |

There is a shop just over the road, but the magic time in Maynooth is 6pm, that is when everything is closed, so you can buy all you need before 6 and cook in the hostel kitchen (there is also an LCBO up the road) |

Tom opens the bar downstairs, but it is just going to be who ever is in the hostel. If you have a car/taxi apparently there is a town 20km down the road with things open later. |

Algonquin! I can't imagine anyone going to Maynooth to stay other than to head into national park. |

The greyhound buses take people to Ottowa or Toronto, there may be other buses but that's the ones I know, so you can go either way. As it is we got a lift and had thanks giving with a family we met at the hostel! |

| HI Hostel HI - Maynooth South Algonquin Backpackers Willkommen im “South Algonquin Backpackers”, einer alteingesessenen Jugendherberge, die von Globetrottern für Globetrotter geführt wird. Entspannt euch und genießt den Aufenthalt in unserer einzigartigen, Jahrhunderte alten Pionier-Herberge, umgeben von Seen und Wäldern und allseits unberührter Natur. Neben dem aufkeimenden Tourismus verdient man sich hier vor allem mit Holzwirtschaft und Jagd seinen Lebensunterhalt.
Horden Kamera schwingender Touristen und Buskarawanen werdet ihr hier allerdings vergebens suchen. Unser winziges Dorf Maynooth (Bevölkerung 200) ist sehr abgelegen!
Falls ihr ohne eigenes Fahrzeug unterwegs seid: Die Jugendherberge liegt günstig an einer Greyhound-Busstrecke. Außerdem bieten wir eine ganze Reihe an Tagesausflügen und Transfers an - zu Fuß, zu Pferd, mit dem Rad, Kajak oder Kanu – oder auch Kanufahrten und Campingabenteuer mit Übernachtung. Wir garantieren beste Ausrüstung und günstigste Leihgebühren!
*** BITTE BEACHTEN: Vom 14.01. bis 11.03.09 werden keine Ausflüge organisier. Wenn ihr mit dem Bus anreist, könnt ihr euch direkt bei der Jugendherberge über Aktivitäten informieren.
Abends könnt bei uns relaxen und mit anderen Gästen in unserem Pub (mit Alkoholkonzession) ein Glas trinken oder etwas essen. Außerdem gehören zu unserem Angebot Gästeküche, Poolbillard, Satellitenfernsehen, Waschsalon, Internet und große Büchertauschbörse.
