Take a short walk down State Street, diagonally across the capital square from the hostel. It's not far, but there are about five good ethnic places, as well as a Coldstone and some more traditional restaurants. |

We were at a juggling convention (happens once a year), so we spent most of our time there. But you could definitely find some good places, just by walking around. You are right in the middle of things. |

Most places on state street. All locals seem to know the restaurant in the basement of the hostel, so I guess it must be good. I tried the noodle company on State st. it was pretty good, if you're up for noodles. If you have a lot of money to burn on meat the tornado steakhouse is solid. |

the state street comedy club; there are open mics on Wednesdays $2 cover. There are a million bars on State St. a great cinema playing indie flicks. |

The Wisconsin Historical Museum on Carroll St. For family friendly ice cream and kosher food try Ella's Deli on East Washington. The Memorial Union on Langdon for more ice cream and a lake side view. Walk up and down state street I'm sure something will strike your fancy. After State St take the bus or walk toward williamson "willy" street, where you can find lots of hippie paraphernalia like african drums and used clothes and a co-op. Also check out the Monona Terrace and the awesome State Capitol! |

I saw a cafe opposite the capitol which advertized very cheap meals, but went to the Kabul restaurant. with friends. Very good |
