We arrived around 9/10 on a Saturday evening and there wasn't much open. We did manage to find a takeaway Chinese place 5 minutes' walk away that wasn't bad. Ask the staff at the hostel. |

There's a place called Casino right on the corner that has meals for about 3-6 euro. I didn't go there but I heard it's ok. |

Walk up or take lift to Bastille. I liked Chamrousse for skiing, very good for beginners, intermediates and families, but have enough to offer for experienced skiers. Variety of landcsape. Les Deux Alpes and Alpe D'Huez also nice, but more barren and exposed. Chamonix (Mont Blanc) is about 5 hours by train with 2 changes, but as a rest day between skiing, I found it a great experience. You can take the lift up to Aiguille du Midi (3842m) where Mont Blanc feels so close as if you could touch it. It is another 1000m higher though! First experience of altitude sickness (diziness, felt like being drunk) |

Some nights good program. One night one group had a late party and were noisy at 2am in the corridors. It was the last night for them, but not for everyone, I had to get up at 5am and was very tired that day. |

I suppose Lyon - it is a marvelous city with a lot of sight seeings. And the HI hostel is just in the middle of the hill most of the historical places are situated on! It is really amazing! |

The canteen, close to the supermarket, 5 minutes walk from the hostel, offers meals at very reasonable prices. The pizzeria across the other side of the main road is excellent. |
