We went to Venice (only ~2hrs away at 160km/H - and I was being overtaken regularly!), but there is a lot to see between Tavranelle and Venice, we just didn't have the time - the landscape alone is beautiful. |

Not a lot of night life in Tavarnelle - need to create your own, but this does not seem a problem with the people staying at the hostel (a friendly bunch when we were there). |

Tavarnelle is authentic and enjoyable. A little town in Tuscany with more Italians than foreigners - hard to find in other places. Sure, other than walks and bike tours through the pretty landscape and to the places nearby (very hilly), there isn't much to do in Tavarnelle itself (a couple of restaurants, the market place, some bars and of course ice cream!). However, the bus connection to Florence (direct, about 1 hour drive) and San Gimignano and Siena (via Poggibonsi, easy transfer) connects Tarvanelle to interesting spots around. The buses were always on time and with about 1-3 € really cheap. We might be back one of those days! |
