Exit the hostel, turn right, follow the road until you get to the dual carridgeway type road heading up the hill, turn right and try the cafes with the locals on the street tables. The "dia" options on the notice boards are very cheap, tasty and filling. Learn a few Portugese phrases as English isnt as commonly used. There a great cheap supermarkets on the next street along from the cafes if you go up a street, on the distant corner. |

Ask at reception about the nightlife area- bars next to McDonnalds. The Che bar is good and had live guitar music, the small bar on the left (forget the name) as you look up to Che is also nice with very freindly locals. |

The numerous interesting museums that are around the area. The numerous island beaches at Faro are the best I saw in the Algarve: beautiful, sandy with huge stretches to swim along, not overcrouded, ameneties nearby without being a total captive market. However I only covered the area east of Albufeira. Eating places are everywhere, although not so rammed and slow service the further from town you are. |

Travira for the architecture, nooks and crannies. Alcoutim for the moorish large village feel as opposed to the city. |
