Buy day ticket each day from reception (can't get them on bus) - costs 6.10 euros and covers everything, great value. If there for four or more days, investigate Berlin Card. Visit famous chocolate shop on Gendermarkt - beautiful creations and some budget prices too. Checkpoint Charlie worth visiting but not that special - Wall museum there is a bit chaotic and expensive. Holocaust memorial very good, especially underground visitor centre accessed from the back. TV tower very expensive at 15 euros so didn't do that, but you can get a good view on a nice day from the Victory Column, directly down the road from the Brandenburg Gate. . Berliner Dom is beautiful inside and the tower is well worth the climb. Bus 100 is amazing - round all the major sites and if you buy a day card, you can just hop in and off as you please. Would certainly recommend the free walking tour (2.5hrs) down by Insider Tours - meet outside Starbucks near Brandenburg Gate at 11am (runs each day I think). |

Amazing all-you-can-eat breakfast. Get there for before 8 for the nutty rolls! Good bakery next to Zooligischer Garten underground station - plain bread rolls (called 'Schrippen) from 10 cents and amazing cakes there too. On Sundays some bread is reduced after 5pm. Also good bakery near Alexander Platz. Supermarket 15 mins walk from hostel, cheap but decent quality. |
