This is my third or fourth time in Bergen. Most travelers go north or return to Oslo. The high speed catamaran (Flagruten) in four and a half hours to Stavanger is an interesting experience, even if followed by a long, long train trip to Oslo. One suggestion, take the 0730 boat from Bergen, arriving in Stavanger at noon, spend the rest of the day at the oil museum, gamle Stavanger, and the domkirke, and take the 2220 overnight to Oslo. |

Go up the cable car to see the view of the city it is way better then the view from the hostel (which is pretty good). A budget way of doing this is to use the hiking trails along side of the cable car to walk up around 40 mins up and 15 mins down. Heaps of locals were doing this on the weekend including prams. |

The Leprosy Museum in Bergen is little known and off the radar for most, but if you're serious about things it's a very interesting and enlightening experience. Ironically and unfortunately, it is seldom mentioned in the guidebooks. |
