Great Wall, Tiananmen Square, Forbidden City (go see the Hall of Clocks inside the Forbidden City, it is well worth the 10 yuan entry fee and watch the video of the clocks in action, it is very impressive, also see Jianshang Park which is North of the Forbidden City, has great views for 10 yuan), Temple of Heaven |

At that point I was about to give up and told them I will go to another hotel. Then the boss said we dare stay in the same room, but we get only one key and my girlfriend will not be officially checked in. After an hour at the reception and accepting all their conditions, we had a nice stay at the hostel. |

On the way to the hostel: On the internet there is a description of the way, saying that the hostel is only ten minutes of walking from the Forbidden city. After passing the Forbidden city and already at the end of Tian'an men square I called them and telling them explicitly "at the south end of Tian'an men", got the devastating answer, that it "would take half an hour by taxi" to reach the hostel (actually 5 minutes walking). Confused, I asked several taxi drivers to take me there and all of them refused, which (I got it postfactum) was due to the short distance. |
