Definitely climb up for the Aksla view (its right next to the hostel and) it's stunning! Also Fjord1 do a tour on coach and ferry from Alesund bus station to the Geirangerfjord! It's a whole day tour and the round trip costs just over £60 - well worth it! |

As Norway is very expensive the best thing you can do is going to the supermarquets around the HI and cook in the small kitchen of the hostel. |

There is no nightlife in Alesund. It's a lovely, quiet, calm and small city. |

you can go easyly to Hellesylt and Geiranger from Alesund or have an overnight trip with Hurtigruten ship to Bergen |

We ate at Egons a pub with excellent choice of food and thoroughly tasty, reasonably priced. A little more money we ate at C&C but it was very good indeed and cooked in front of you while you waited. |
