Jokkmokk is an old trading place where the sami people have traded their goods for hundreds of years. On a hill in the middle of Jokkmokk you find STF Åsgård hostel. Built in the tventieths and now a hostel since 1994. Most touristic sites are in walking distance and if you visit us during the famous winter market in February, we are in the middle of the market. Many guests come here on their way to Sarek and Padjelanta Nationalparks. Some wants to know more about the sami people, their ways and traditions and they visit our world heritage area Laponia or Ájjte, the Swedish museum for sami people and the mountain region in Sweden. In Jokkmokk you can visit local artists and sami craft makers, buy traditional handi craft made by wood, glass or silver. In our area we have big Nationalparks, known hiking trails and the opportunities to see the local wild life. Our hostel is situated in a big garden where you can use our fireplace, play a game of crocket or just relax under the trees. In the winter you can go dog sledging, ice fishing or skiing. | more......
