Start with Galata Tower - gives you a great 360-degree overview of Istanbul as a city. Basilica Cistern - amazing feat of architecture and engineering, and the spooky atmosphere is wonderful. Istanbul archeology museum near Topkapi Palace - extensive collection of artifacts in multiple buildings, the tile/ceramic collection is not to be missed. |

"Cosy Pub" - the roof terrace has awesome views of the Blue Mosque and the sea/islands. Meal prices are average for an eat out in Istanbul (not expensive); great food, friendly staff and the best view (that I saw) in Istanbul!!! |

Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace (wow), Bosphorus Cruise (quite cheap - 20 Euro for 2 hours), the shoe district, the Cats of Istanbul!!! And take a taxi ride if you've never experienced busy traffic like this before... driving in Istanbul is quite the art form. |

Try to get out of the area where the hostel is located because it is a really touristy and expensive area. Palatium a couple of streets over is a great place to lounge, smoke hookah and enjoy an evening! |
