HI Hostel Idanha-a-Nova

Idanha-a-Nova Youth Hostel was officially opened on 4th August 2007. This refurbished secular building, located in the town centre, offers modern, comfortable and well-equipped facilities and accommodates 66 guests in a choice of twin en-suite rooms (one suitable for wheelchair users), double en-suite rooms, familiar en-suite rooms and shared dormitory rooms. Away from the fast-moving and buzzing of the big cities, the Idanha-a-Nova municipality and its surroundings, located in the centre-east of Portugal, are ideal for nature lovers and people seeking a relaxed atmosphere. In fact, Idanha-a-Nova is surrounded by authentic and outstanding landscapes where nature in its untouched state can be explored in the International Tagus Natural Park on the border with Spain or in the Penha Garcia Forest and Mountain. These natural sites are a perfect choice for those seeking outdoor action and adventure with activities as diverse as hiking, climbing, mountain-biking, horse riding, bird watching, canoeing, paragliding and much much more! Concerning the architectonic and historical heritage is worth to highlight the monumentally of Idanha-a-Nova as well as the historical villages of Idanha-a-Velha, Monsanto e Penha Garcia with its traditional houses built from granite and schist, its medieval fortresses and Roman remains. In the past, these villages, perched high on hilltops, played a crucial role in protecting the surrounding lands. Free from the urban life, this is the place to recharge batteries, replenish the soul and fill the lungs with fresh air. | more......
