Don't miss... 16 Aug 2010 Piotr, Norway:
Checking the view from the stadion tower (just by the hostel) is a must. If you like fortresses, visit the Suomenlinna island. There is also some interesting architecture in the city center (among others, the Helsinki Cathedral and Uspenskin katedraali), however most of it is quite recent. Unfortunately I did not manage to visit any museums (planned to go at least to the Museum of Finland). Do not buy the full Helsinki Card (public transport + entry to tourist attractions) unless you have a good plan with many places to visit. The city is flat and spreads on a relatively big area. It takes some time to get anywhere. But it can be refreshing to walk along the sea coast or through the woods, e.g. in the Munkkiniemi area.

I ate cheap (approx 10 euro) at Kauppatori. At one of the stalls there were Asian women serving fried salmon (bigger chunks than you will ever get in any restaurant, especially for this price), potatoes and other vegetables.
