The National Portrait Gallery is a fun way to learn American history. In the same building is the National Museum of American Art which is another great way to absorb the American experience. There's a very architecturally interesting courtyard connecting the two buildings that has a little cafe, free wifi, plenty of seating, and great people watching. |

Anyone who like me enjoys sampling cheap no-frills Indian restaurants will find the one just over the road very acceptable. It's been there a long time too! I also recommend the Cafe Mozart (not a budget option, but definitely the real thing) for those wanting to stay in touch with their German side. |
