So many beaches, so little time. After 4 pm, most beaches are accessible for free, so do explore. I recommend the bay area in the evenings for the wonderful sunsets.

Eastham Hostel - where the managers are both professional **and** sweet. Just because Sam is Janice's (Nantucket or Martha's Vineyard) son - and Janice is **terrific** - doesn't mean he's as good with the guests as his mother. Please **do not** hire him next season. If you do, I will not stay at the Truro hostel as long as he is an employee there. Nor will I stay at any hostel where he is employed. Is HI going to be run now only by Janice's family and friends? Why did HI do what it could to get that nice married, middle-aged couple from Summer 2009 to remain in Truro for the duration of the summer? Also, Sandy, co-Truro manager and Sam's GF, literally pushed guests out the door at the 11 am check-out - bad vibes for future visits! All hostel managers have let us - especially if we were moving right over to another HI hostel - keep our food in the fridge so it wouldn't go bad between checkout and checkin times. Sandy was abrasive, and acted like we should be grateful she was our hostel manager. Neither she nor Sam seemed to realize that they are employed by HI, not by themselves and Janice. As a romantic couple, they ganged up on the guests. Please do not employ these two, Sandy and Sam, in the Cape and Islands hostels again. Get older managers who appreciate hostel life as much as the guests do. For the first time in four summers, I left a HI hostel with a bad taste in my mouth.

HI Hostel Truro

Originally a Coast Guard station, Hostelling International Truro is the furthest hostel out on the "arm" of Cape Cod. Located in the Cape Cod National Seashore, the hostel is just a five-minute walk from the beach. Large picture windows provide a breathtaking view from the spacious kitchen and dining area. The hostel has two private rooms and a coed dormitory room. Breakfast, wifi access and parking are all free. All bed linens and a bath towel are included in the overnight rate. The Truro Hostel is open to individuals and small groups of friends, but not to large groups. The hostel also provides quick access to fresh water ponds, bike paths, cranberry bogs, and nature trails throughout the National Seashore. Provincetown, a mecca for artists, with its numerous art galleries and craft shops, is just 10 miles up the road. Dining there is a gourmet's dream and then there are all those quaint shops. You can also go whale watching with the best fleets in the world or just take a walk on the trails through the dunes and marshes. | more......
