05 Dec 2010 Seth, USA:
This hostel is not ideal if nightlife is what you are looking for. Sausalito has a few places, but you may as well find a way to get to SF and back. |

05 Dec 2010 Seth, USA:
Enjoy the outdoors. I would bring a bike if I came back because the Golden Gate Bridge (and SF) is so close and lots of neat towns nearby begged to be bike to. |

05 Dec 2010 Seth, USA:
Bring food and cook it in the hostel's well-stocked kitchen. Every other place you'd go requires a car or bike. |

05 Dec 2010 Seth, USA:
If you are a foreign traveller, I would obviously go into Sn Francisco if you haven't been there yet. After which I would head up the coast and stay at hostels in Portland, Seattle, and/or Vancouver. If you are the outdoorsy type, I would also recommend heading to Yosemite, which you can get to by YARTS bus from Merced. If you are in a car, I would also recommend driving along the coast along the Pacific Coast Highway in either direction from SF. |
