Naan 'n Curry, right across the street. Also Cinderella Russian Bakery on the other side of town. Worth the bus ride. Get the pirozhki, fall in love.

Cafe Mason, just next door had a good variety of food. They offered a fairly inexpensive glass of house merlot and would always put me, dining alone, in a booth in the window so I could enjoy the people-watching on the street. The staff were very friendly.

Walking across the Golden Gate bridge and taking the ferry back from Sausalito. Also, walking the Land's End Trail. (Both are best in the mornings, when it's not so windy)

Marin Headlands hostel across the Golden Gate Bridge, or up to Point Reyes if you're interested in outdoor pursuits away from urban congestion. If you're on public transportation, try Tahoe. You can take Amtrak to Sacramento and switch to an Amtrak bus (also there's a very beautiful hostel in Sacramento)
