We chose an HI hostel as we have come to associate a certain standard with the brand. We stayed at the HI Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco recently, where we were provided with crisp, white sheets and clean pillows.

Also, the HI website promised 'ample free public parking outside the hostel' - perhaps we were there at a busy time, but we had to park two blocks away. Most of the available parking was on residential streets - this was not the 'public parking' we had expected!

HI Hostel San Diego - Point Loma

Point Loma hostel is set in the middle of a quiet, friendly residential community in San Diego. A beautifully renovated grocery store, a few restaurants, charming public library and a bank are all within a block of the hostel. There is ample free public parking outside the hostel and the bus stop is just a block away. If you are touring our part of San Diego on bicycle, we have plenty of bike racks inside our courtyard to help keep your bike secure. We are minutes away from our local beach, you will find the perfect place for an exciting adventure or a relaxing escape. Ocean Beach (O.B.) is a colourful slice of urban bohemia. There you will find an abundance of quaint, locally-owned restaurants, bars, and shopping. Go surfing, rollerblading, skateboarding, bicycling, or just hang out at the beach! Point Loma hostel have a few rules that we would like you to look over prior to booking:
• Reception is closed from 10:00PM - 8:00AM.
• No check in for new arrivals between these hours.
• Hostelling International is a non-profit membership based organization.
• Non-members will be asked to pay a $3 temporary membership fee per night upon check-in.
• Guests under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
• Max number of days is 14 days within 365 days.
• Please be aware that we are only for travelers so we do not allow San Diego County residents to check into our hostel.
• If you are a resident of San Diego County and you make a reservation on this site you will not be checked in or refunded.
• Private rooms for three people have one double bed on bottom and one single bed on top. | more......
