Weekends in Sacramento are very quiet since all offices are closed (state and county government is most of the offices downtown), and there is very little residential in downtown. So you have to look a little for a restaurant that is open. The blocks around the capitol building have a lot of small ethic restaurants that are great for a great price. |

Try K Street on the 1000 block. Walk up 10th Street (the hostel is on the corner of H Street and 10th), just 3 blocks up from the hostel. A pedestrian street with some great restaurants, night clubs and an alternative movie theater. |

The capitol building is the big draw in Sacramento, as are some of the other goverment buildings. Most government buildings were built around the turn of the 19th to 20th century. They are built of stone and designed in the Classical tradition. For this reason, Sacramento is one of the most beautiful capitol cities in all the USA. |
