06 Jul 2011 Timothy, USA:
Laughing Planet is a nice cheap chain that the locals seem to like. Food stands near 10th and Alder provide a great variety. Voodoo Donuts seem to sell crazy donuts, though I didn't go there. |

06 Jul 2011 Timothy, USA:
Both the Pittock mansion and the Japanese Garden have tours included in the price of admission. The Japanese Garden only has tours twice a day. First Thursday is great for people who like visual art. OMSI is fairly good too for science people, and has puzzles in their hallway that appeals to the non-kids of the science museum. You might as well walk through the rose garden when you go to the Japanese garden; it's right beside and free. Powell's books is also a great place to go. If you go on the hostel's 4T hike, you go on the sky-tram which is really neat. |

06 Jul 2011 Timothy, USA:
This hostel only allows 7 night stays during the summer, so if you want to stay longer in Portland you should go to the other hostel, which is nearby on the other side of the Willamette. I did not do this, however. |
