Note: There is a shuttle bus from the airport that will take you to the valleymetro light rail stop at 44th Street / Washington Transit Center from where you take the train in the direction of Montebello / 19th Avenue and get off at Roosevelt / Central Avenue. See valleymetro.org/

use the transit. get a day pass $ 3.50. Use the light rail. A very nice, clean, efficient transit system. Take the light rail to Mesa for lunch or dinner . Mill and 3rd (?) stop. Rent a bike from the hostel. Good deal and if enough people ask maybe they'll get another one !
