There main party area is Tempe, where the University is located. It's about 10 miles from the hostel but easily accessible by light rail, 9 blocks from hostel |

Note: There is a shuttle bus from the airport that will take you to the valleymetro light rail stop at 44th Street / Washington Transit Center from where you take the train in the direction of Montebello / 19th Avenue and get off at Roosevelt / Central Avenue. See valleymetro.org/ |

use the transit. get a day pass $ 3.50. Use the light rail. A very nice, clean, efficient transit system. Take the light rail to Mesa for lunch or dinner . Mill and 3rd (?) stop. Rent a bike from the hostel. Good deal and if enough people ask maybe they'll get another one ! |

HI Hostel Phoenix - The Metcalf HouseLocated in the heart of the city, is a short distance from the airport, bus and train stations, and within walking distance of downtown, parks, museums, and shopping centers. As Arizona's capital city, Phoenix has much to offer. The Desert Botanical Gardens at Papago Park features Sonoran Desert plant life. Visit the Heard Museum, renowned for Native American exhibits. Arizona has more Indian reservations than any other state. There are many inexpensive cinemas and clubs featuring blues music. Food Market, a 12 minute walk. The unusual Sonoran Desert which is Phoenix is accessible by city bus. Hike the mountain parks in Phoenix. Trails to the top! In summer clear rivers provide cool respite. Musicians?
