02 Oct 2008 Klara, USA:
I was in Cambria before I get to the Lighthouse, it was nice, I was all alone. Next I went to Midpines, the kitchen could be cleaner but it is the best deal to Yosemita.
For good eats check out... 30 Sep 2008 Rosalie, USA:
We didn't have a budget meal, but probably one of the best meals I've had was at a restaurant recommended by the staff. If I get the spelling right, its duarte's, just a few minutes away from the hostel
For great nightlife try... 30 Sep 2008 Rosalie, USA:
Having a hot tub at the side of the ocean is amazing, and the fact that you rent it out privately is a really nice touch. However, I sure missed working jets.
Don't miss... 26 Sep 2008 David, USA:
The Redwood trees past Pescadero and up toward La Honda . Nice coastal scenery south to Santa Cruz and also north to Pacifica.
26 Sep 2008 David, USA:
Santa Cruz or Montara Lighthouse beach and Devils Slide a little further north.
For good eats check out... 24 Sep 2008 Katherine, USA:
I brought my own food and used the well-equipped, clean and spacious kitchen to cook and eat in.
For great nightlife try... 24 Sep 2008 Katherine, USA:
I enjoyed cozying up to a good book on a comfy sofa in a peaceful, homey environment. Loved watching the sun set on the deck overlooking the coast.
Don't miss... 24 Sep 2008 Katherine, USA:
The tidepools just below the hostel. Check SF tidepool schedule in the office and adjust to one hour earlier. Don't forget your tidepool shoes if you have them! I also enjoyed a spectacular hike in Butano State Park (start at the Jackson Flats trailhead to the left of park entrance kiosk, loop around to Año Nuevo trail at end.) The other trek I made was a mostly flat, well-posted, educational and stunningly beautiful hike at the Pescadero Marsh (see Pescadero State Beach, cross the road after parking and look for wetlands with trailhead signs.)
24 Sep 2008 Katherine, USA:
Weather permitting, I'd like to hang out on Bean Hollow beach or any other of the others in the vicinity. Half Moon Bay is a pleasant stop for lollygagging. Don't miss a great bookstore with a charming owner: Ocean Books, 416 Main St. Tell them Kate sent you!
22 Sep 2008 Jenny, England & Wales:
Monterey was a great place to stay with plenty to do and see. we planned to stay one day and stayed 3
