There is a military base that is open (and free, donations suggested) just around the corner that has a bunch of neat stuff and photos. A lot of focus on internment camps and Pearl Harbor. Good if you are into history and/or the military. |

I also stayed at the HI Hostel in Santa Monica, but if that one is booked up you should definitely check out the Venice Beach Cotel. The beach is close to Santa Monica, but also very beautiful. This 'hostel' was relatively cheap and had great rooms. I stayed in a 4 bed female dorm, which was awesome! |

Located in scenic Angel's Gate Park, Hostelling International - Los Angeles South Bay has panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean and Catalina Island and features spectacular sunsets. This hostel is a great place for you to relax far from the hustle and bustle of Los Angeles. After the summer season the hostel is only open October through May for groups of 20 people or more.
