Harpers Ferry - do walk direct to the historical centre from the hostel ... about 2 scenic miles along the riverside and saves parking charges and using tourist bus. |

Not Much in Harper's Ferry. Go down 340 to Charles Town and try the 'Tap Room' at the bowling alley. 44 draught beers and a lot of the locals go there. |

Maryland Heights. It's a pretty steep hike, but the views are well worth it. It overlooks Harpers ferry from above the train tracks that go through the cliff wall. |

HI Hostel Harpers Ferry HostelJust two miles from Harpers Ferry National Historic Park, this cozy lodge stands high on a bluff, overlooking the confluence of the Potomac and Shenandoah Rivers. The hostel is perfect for visitors to the Civil War Battlefields of Western Maryland. ( Antietam, Catoctin, Monocacy). Washington, DC, Baltimore , MD and Gettysburg, PA are only an hour away. You can hike the Appalachian Trail, bicycle the C&O Canal, float down the river on an inner tube, raft or canoe. Use our equipment to play Frisbee, Volleyball, or Badminton. Relax beside the fireplace with a good book from our extensive library, or build a campfire outside for 'S'mores'. The Contemporary American Theatre Festival and live music clubs are in nearby Shepherdstown, West Virginia.
