Manoa Falls in the vicinity of the hostel. Very muddy walk up but the falls were 150 feet high and worth seeing. The Bishop Museum, besides memorabilia and history about the Hawaiian monarchy, has a great Hawaiian clothing exhibit right now with the clothing (Hawaiian shirts and dresses and bathing suits) of the great 50's designer Alfred Shaheen; very well done and beautiful exhibit if you like vintage.

A bit of a walk and ride to get anywhere to eat, but a food truck with tasty food sits right around the corner at night and YMCA has Coffeeline with good coffee and food right around the corner.

Make sure to go to the North Shore for surfing contests. I saw the Banzai Pipeline and it was awesome.

This hostel is very near Moana Falls (150 foot waterfall) and Lyons Arboretum. Muddy trek up to Falls. North Shore Van's Triple Crown of Surfing was fabulous.
