A terrific burger joint a block away from the hostel is Epic Burger -- delicious! A great Chicago-area chain is Portillo's, found one on Ontario & Clark by the big, 2-story McDonald's. Another chain that's tasty is America's Dog. There's one at Navy Pier, but I liked the one on Adams around Wabash. Yet another local chain with a location on Michigan near the Art Institute is Potbelly Sandwich Works.

Free evening concerts at Pritzker Pavilion in Millennium Park. Definitely check out some great Chicago theatre. Chicago Shakespeare Theater at Navy Pier is excellent. Try HotTix -- half price tickets, Randolph & Michigan. Millennium Park at night (the Silver Bean, Crown Fountain) is magical. Also Buckingham Fountain's nightly shows with colored lights.
