The mexican restaurant down the street from the hostel. Can't remember the name, but it was great and super cheap. For a little more, the tacos at Turf & Surf food truck in downtown are the most delicious I have had, probably ever. Tacos at Torchey's are also very good and super cheap. BBQ at Artz' is a bit pricey-er but well worth it. |

I heard the Intercontinental is great for some authentic Austin music, dancing and company. I didn't make it there, but did check out Hotel Vegas on E. 6th for a local band's EP release show. Loved it there, super chill vibe with a huge outdoor patio. |

6th street is the centre of the Austin experience, and there are countless bars to suit every mood. Great live music in most of them, too. |

FOOTBALL! If you are in town for a University of Texas football game, you have to go. 100,000+ screaming Texans in a beautiful stadium. Go to Walgreens before the game, buy a UT t-shirt for $7 and some beer, and introduce yourself to the locals tailgating in the park. They will welcome you with open arms. |
