12 Apr 2008 Karin, Netherlands:
Bike renting: the saddles are terribly hard and uncomfy. It is possible to bike to all the attractions of the island (though it is not possible to see all of 'hem in one day if travelling by bike). So, bring something to make the saddle more comfortable otherwise you will give up after 3 to hours hours since your budd is hurting. Regrettably it is not possible to bike all around the island since the dirt roads (= 1third of the road leadng around the island) are much to bad for biking. Good thing is that this road is much used by the locals who are frindly and will - if driving the truck - stop when seeing a biker pushing his bike and offer a lift to the village. Security issues: none, especially none for sole female travellers. Ask me for more information. |
