I headed north on Pennine Way to small town of Diggle--stayed in inexpensive B&B "Sunfield" because no hostel at that stop. They were very nice, gave ride back up to Pennine Way so I didn't have the extra 1.5 miles next morning. The retro decor is almost hip at this point! I combined their directions with some from guidebook to find Diggle from the Pennine Way. It is closer to the bridlepath.
