Trip to vallorcine by train is highly recommended. It gives a panoramic view of the valley. Also train to Mer de Glacé gives you memorable trip of life. Make sure to actually walk on the glacier as it is really a lifetime experience. |

HI Hostel Chamonix/Mont BlancWelcome to Chamonix Mont-Blanc – Unlimited ski fun! One day or another, you'll visit Chamonix! So why not now? Chamonix is the gateway to the mountain... Whether hyperactive or more of the quiet type, in summer and in winter, Chamonix YH is here for you, alone or with friends. Come and have some fresh air, at the top of the Aiguille du Midi (3842 m), discover outstanding views, take in Europe's roof (Mont-Blanc), high at 4810.40 m. From June to September, many paths will entice you to go for a walk and you may see a marmot basking in the sun. On the hills, take your time to watch the ibex and other chamois' crazy run around the rocks. Lake Blanc, Cheyseries, Posettes, Plan Praz, Bellachat, Dard waterfall and many many more places will enable to discover the whole valley from every angle. From December to April, paths and hills become enjoyable ski slopes for everyone and every level. Whether an experimented ski enthusiast or a beginner, the many different slopes of the resort will answer all your needs. Downhill skiing, snowboarding, cross-country skiing, multi-sports, the choice is yours. When the evening comes, have a little snack, some tea, or a hot cup of chocolate before dinner. And during your stay here, why don't you try our local specialties: tartiflette, croziflette, diots with white wine (just a little bit), or fondue savoyarde. At the hostel: bar, pool table, foosball, video games, board games, volleyball ground, boule, outdoor fire pit, washing-machine, dryer, Internet terminal and Wi-Fi access. Ski area You will discover the marvellous landscapes of Europe’s highest summits. The variety of ski areas around Chamonix will satisfy the most demanding skiers, from beginners to the most experienced. Admire the Aiguille du Midi, Mont Blanc, Les Bossons glacier and, if that’s not enough, finish your day with night-time skiing at Les Planards or a visit to the Domaine de Lognan Snowpark. For freeriders, Les Grands Montets is a must!
