Either up to the Bay of Islands, Paihia is lovely and a good base, or over to Coromandel by ferry. Don't stay in Coromandel Town though, pass through there after seeing the scenic railway and stay in Whitianga instead. |

Asian food court 'Food Alley', 9 Albert Street. Fantastic and very cheap food court with food from Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, India etc. We had a very big and very delicious tofu and vegetable clay pot for $8. Great for vegetarian food. |
