Go to the Nachtsmarkt. Away from the centre of town, it seems to be where all the locals go to drink, and there's a much wider selection of food at better prices. Great if you've eaten enough schnitzl to last a life time! Best coffee and cake at Aida on Stefan Platz, although not particularly cheap. |

the Natural History museum (Naturhistorisches Museum)in the nearby Museumsviertel and behind the Volkstheater. I spent 4.5 hours just on 1 floor. The life on earth fossil collection is the most comprehensive and amazing one I have seen anywhere, but the mineral collection is also worthwhile - and of course its main attraction, the 11cm neolithic Venus statuette. |

There is a night train from Prague to Amsterdam with the City Night Line. You must reserve a sleeping compartment ahead of time but very worth it. |

just round the corner from the hostel are many great places to eat, e.g. in Neuburggasse and Burggasse - in particular the Japanese Sushi restaurant - incredible value for money. A bit further, on the corner of Burggasse and Spiegelgasse you can have a cake with a big Melange coffee for €4.90, about half of what you pay in the centre - but I didn't get time to try it out myself. |
