There is a snack bar next there (that will also happily store your luggage for free) but be aware that their opening times are not very reliable. They sometimes just close during the day although it says outside "open all day". Also try the cafeteria at the museum, they have an 800ISK flatrate for soup and bread and they have fantastic cakes, too.

Obviously, Skogafoss. Consider hiking up along the river - it has lots of small waterfalls

A wonderful walk up the steps at the side of the waterfall and along the river (with it's further 23 waterfalls - we didn't count them but read that and it's most likely correct - all stunning) up to the footbridge over the river when you're within sight of the two glaciers. It was supposed to take 2-3 hours but took us 5, but we did stop a lot for photos/to read books/eat snacks etc. We returned via the road as quicker but much less scenic apart from some wonderful views of the glaciers and coastline etc.

For a great nightlife, don't go to Skogar - there is nothing else but the waterfall and a few houses.

HI Hostel Skógar

L'auberge de Skógar se trouve dans une ancienne école, près de Skógafoss, l'une des chutes d'eau les plus connues d'Islande. Skógar est un endroit très populaire, au beau milieu d'une nature impressionnante et variée : glaciers, montagnes, plages de sable noir, vallées verdoyantes, forêts, cascades que parcourrent de superbes chemins de rando. En sus, le musée de Skógar est l'un des plus visités d'Islande. L'auberge est un pied-à-terre idéal pour tous ceux qui veulent faire le Fimmvörðuháls, l'un des chemins de grande randonnée les plus renommés du pays. Skógar est situé au milieu de la moitié Sud de l'Islande et est donc tout indiqué pour la découverte de tout le Sud du pays.
