Amalfi coast. We actually just used Salerno as a jumping off point. The Amalfi coast is an easy bus ride from Salerno. You just have to jump on the SITA bus from the town, a few blocks from the hostel. I recommend getting the 6 euro all day pass so that you can just hop on and off at the towns you want to visit. Minori has a nice beach, and try the lemon sorbetto in Amalfi....it's to die for! As for Capri, it was a challenge to find where the boat leaves from in Salerno, and really, I didn't think Capri was worth it. Far to many tourists, far too expensive, and the island has lost the charm I'm sure it once possessed. |

Museo Archologico Nationale, Naples and then on to the sites of Pompeii (nip into the beautiful cathedral in Pompei), Herculaneum and Paestum. Take the bus along the 'Blue Ribbon' to Amalfi, then on to Positano and Sorrento (2 hours beyond Amalfi) - Amalfi coast road is quite a feat of engineering, and so picturesque. |
