Capitol City Brewing was great for a solo traveller - lots of room at the bar, friendly staff, decent food, sports and news on TV. $5+ for a beer though. |

The International Spy Museum was good fun. The Newseum was better than expected (the Pulitzer photography exhibition particularly moving). The National Zoo was worth a bus trip. The National Portrait Gallery and American Art Museum (in adjoining buildings) were a real surprise pleasure, with an amazing covered courtyard worth seeing. |

U Street (a fifteen minute walk from the hostel) is a great spot to go for a few drinks. A bit of a hipster area but not aggressively so. Really enjoyed myself |
