From the front door of the hostel, take a right and head up Mason St...if you're willing to navigate a steep hill, you will pass the Fairmont and Mark Hopkins Hotels, which are as swanky as it gets...then on the next block, you are rewarded with a view to the north of Alcatraz, the Bay and Marin County. It's beautiful. Continue down the hill on Mason and before long, you'll hit Columbus St. in North Beach and then, Fisherman's Wharf. If all that walking poops you out, the bonus is that the Powell St. cable car literally can take you back from Fisherman's Wharf to within a block of the hostel. |
