The long tail tourist boat rips you of 650 baht. The floating market isn't all that great. Even the Chao Phraya Tourist boat which gives you unlimited rides at 120 baht is not necessary, as you can't use the boat more than 4or 5 times, and you can buy a single ticket on the boat for 18 baht every time you get on. That's still less than 120 baht. The sky train is the fastest way to reach the tourist spots if you are in a hurry. |

Surprisingly there are local stalls nearby (walking towards BTS station) which sells fresh fruits, juice, and local food at very reasonable price (operates around after 4.30pm, especially the toasted bread stall just outside the hotel's cafe which operates in the weekdays morning. I take this as a bonus. If you cross the road, beside Nexus car showroom there's a stall selling local food like sticky rice, papaya salad (very nice), roasted pork, pork soup (taste like tomyam! I like this because it doesn't have bad smell) Don't worry if you don't speak Thai, they have a bilingual menu (ask at the stall). If you really like to taste tomyam and find none, you can just walk out the hotel and turn left, there's a family mart which sells instant noodles starting at 10 Bhat. It's convenient because you don't have to walk across the road to go 7-11. There's another road near the hotel, I don't know if there's any shortcuts. You walk out from the hotel, turn right (walk towards Asoke BTS) and walk straight until you come to the cross junction, turn right and walk straight again (if you're walking around 4.30pm or later, you should have passed many local stalls). You go on, you should have come to this junction where you look at your right, it's the pub street. If you like a beer, here they have many choices. Along this street there are many stalls selling noodles, some selling local dishes where I see people buy take away. |

Just get on the BTS sky train and go JJ (Chatucak) market at weekends! If you like, you can always visit to BTS sky train website to find out more attractions along the BTS line. |
